Select wire to your specification
Stainless steel and spring wire are specified by more than diameter. Include the grade, standard, required mechanical properties, finish and packaging in your enquiry. The catalogue includes 1.4301 and 1.4404 stainless wire, 1.4310 stainless spring wire, patented wire and oil-tempered wire. Refer to the relevant table for the diameter range of each group.
What to include in a wire enquiry
Specify diameter and tolerance, quantity in kilograms, surface condition and required documents. Tell us whether you need coils, spools or straight lengths. For repeat orders, indicate the quantity per delivery and expected consumption. Availability, specification and lead time are confirmed for each order.
Selection and ordering — practical questions
Stainless wire or stainless spring wire?
The steel grade does not replace the wire specification. For spring wire, define the standard, condition and strength; this group includes 1.4310, 1.4401 and 1.4568. General-purpose stainless wire and spring wire have separate tables and diameter ranges. Selection should follow the part specification.
How are patented and oil-tempered wire specified?
The catalogue separates patented wire to EN 10270-1 from oil-tempered wire to EN 10270-2. State the required standard, class, diameter and mechanical properties. A size range from one group should not be applied to another. Include the spring drawing or specification if available.
